YEAR 2009
Urban Art Projects, in collaboration with Bureau^Proberts Architects, have developed designs for a series of 89 bridges of differing purpose to provide connections between zones of the resort. The proposed bridges project will enhance and cement the Dongqian Lake Resort development success by providing physical and visual vehicular and pedestrian links throughout the development, and by highlighting picturesque waterways and scenic vantage points within the landscape.
The Dongqian Bridges project forms part of the overall development of the Dongqian Lake Resort. The development, currently in progress, will incorporate a large scale resort and city renewal. The area spans approximately 230 square kilometers and includes Dong Qian Lake Town, Tiantong Temple, Asoka Temple and Tiantong Forest Park.
The Ningbo municipal government plans to invest some 15 billion Yuan to develop and integrate the natural landscape, built environment and regional culture of the Dongqian lake area. The project’s objective is to ensure that the Dongqian Lake Resort will become a national and international travel and business destination.
