ARTWORK Drift
ARTIST Sebastian di Mauro
Artist Sebastian Di Mauro created Drift, a remarkable signature artwork, for a key State Government
building in Brisbane's central business district. Constructed in cast
aluminium, the organic shapes engage in a unique dialogue with the surrounding
architecture. They describe the space and invite interaction by tenants and
visitors alike. Di Mauro's sculptures, which suggest seed pods or chrysalis
forms, introduce the natural environment into an urban setting subtly evoking
ideas of transformation and growth, change and renewal. The artist describes
this work as 'telling the story of regeneration of the site and of human
history. It speaks of the dynamics of life itself.'
