Australia’s government, in continuous effort to improve state and Indigenous relations, commissioned works from three aboriginal artists. Each installation incorporates elements of Indigenous heritage, folklore and hope. Judy Watson’s hot stone and water spiral provide a gathering space in Fire and Water. Thancoupie’s Kwi’ith (Man and Woman) uses oversized Yams to represent the earth coming together and sharing. And in , Vic McGrath uses the role of navigation through wind billowed sails to guide the viewer through the process of Reconciliation. The artworks are complemented by layers of text extracted from books or spoken word. They act to provide another level of interpretation of Reconciliation and complement each artwork.
