Urban Art Projects delivered a comprehensive art program for the public spaces of Darwin’s Waterfront Development. Working with project architects and engineers as well as local and indigenous artists, UAP undertook curatorship, management and installation of six major commissions.

The collection draws inspiration from the local coastal environment and cultural heritage of Darwin. Function and aesthetics are combined in Mandy Ridley’s ocean-inspired screen which clads the multi-storey car park; the palm-lined courtyard features Dadang Christanto’s allegorical entry statement, while, on a smaller scale, Janice Murray’s brolga playscape enchants visiting children. Screen and glass artwork by Matt Huttlestone and Wukun Wunambi adorn the Medina Grand Hotel; and Katrina Tyler’s fragmented sphere emerges from the forecourt of the Convention Centre.
